When it comes to upside, 2008 prospect Xavier Gibson has plenty of it. The 6-foot-9, 205-pound forward from Northview High School in Dothan, Ala., presently has six schools on his list.
"I like Alabama, Georgia Tech, Florida State and Georgia," said Gibson. "Those are the four schools that I have already visited. I also like Duke and North Carolina. Right now I am just getting mail from them."
Gibson, who would like to play his college ball in the south, averaged 16 points per game this year for his 20-11 team.
He is a long and agile athlete, who prefers facing the basket. Best in an open court game, Gibson realizes that becoming stronger and improving as a rebounder are the key factors for his development.
Playing well enough last summer at the Nike Hoop Jamboree to land a spot at the Nike All American Camp, Gibson will run with the Georgia Blazers on the AAU circuit.
Xavier Gibson scouting report:
Long and athletic, Gibson is presently a finesse face up player with a huge upside. He can block shots, run the floor and has good skills with the ball, especially for his size. He does need to improve as a back to the basket scorer and as a rebounder. Developing strength and toughness will be the key to how much of his upside he achieves.
