2007 Rose: a hot commodity

The No. 2 ranked player in the class of 2007 Derrick Rose began his high school career with an outstanding performance for Simeon High School in Chicago, Ill. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound combo guard is a do everything player with a body already built for the high-major level. Rose’s AAU coach Luther Topps shared some recruiting insight with Rivals.com.
"The schools showing Derrick the most interest are Illinois, DePaul, Marquette and Michigan State,” said Coach Topps of the Ferrari AAU club. “He is also hearing from Kansas, Michigan, Indiana and Arizona among others. Coach Crean was at Derrick’s first game."

The head man from Marquette watched Rose score 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals in a 4 point victory.
Blessed with strength and speed, Rose has the ability to set up his teammates as well as score points from both inside and outside.
"Derrick's speed is what makes him better than most players,” said Topps. “He is a very strong kid and is also very unselfish. Derrick works hard on his game and will continue to get better.
"I think he needs to get a little better defensively and continue to improve his outside shot."
