2007 Point Guard Already Has Offers

Jay Dee Luster, a 2007 prospect from Hoover High School in San Diego, is already sporting three D-1 offers and is being recruited by some of the top high major programs in the nation.
San Diego State, San Diego, and New Mexico have already offered the 5-foot-9, 140-pound freshman point guard. Louisville, Kansas, Georgia Tech, and UCLA have all been to San Diego to watch Luster play this year.

Luster’s high school coach Ollie Goulston has a lot of praise for his young star.
“He’s unbelievable,” he said. “He received offers in the eighth grade. One college coach called him a T.J. Ford with a jump shot. He’s super quick, a great on ball defender. He locks his man down. He dominates a game. He’s a great passer and has great vision.... One you don’t see come around to often.”
Beyond the obvious skill of Luster, who is averaging 19 points, 10 assists, and 5 steals per game, one of his most impressive qualities is his work ethic.
“He’s a hard worker,” said Coach Goulston. “Once after a eight point loss in which Jay Dee didn’t shoot to well, he stayed in the gym until 1:00 a.m. shooting the ball. He came back the next game with 38 points, including 12 of 12 from the free throw line.”
