2007 Holman: blossoming big man

The Oakland Slam N Jam (Soldiers) AAU club has a couple of top 2007 prospects at Richmond (Calif.) High School. One of those prospects is Eli Holman, a blossoming center prospect who is still growing and has very strong bloodlines. Holman, 6-foot-7, 195-pounds, has schools from the Pac-10 and the Big 12 recruiting him.
"Eli is hearing from California, Oregon, Washington State, Nebraska, Missouri and Arizona State," said Coach Carl Foster of the Oakland Slam N Jam (Soldiers). "Eli has a ton of upside. He's 6'7 with a 7'2 wingspan, wears size 18 shoes and is not done growing. His dad is 6"9 and played with The Harlem Globetrotters."

Not only does Holman have the length to be a formidable shot blocker, but he also has the skill to be a scorer around the basket once he gets stronger.
He's going to be a great defensive center that can also score around the basket," said Foster. "He has a beautiful jump hook.
"Eli needs core strength. He also needs to get his elbow raised to help elevate his shot. Right now his shot is a little flat."
Perhaps the most important quality of this yong big man is his desire to improve.
"Eli is eager and open to learn new things," said Foster. "He's a very good kid that wants to get better. Eli is a joy to be around."
