2007 forward headed to Big East

Harmony Prep in Cincinnati, Ohio will be one of the top programs in the country in 2005-06 and one of the reasons why is the addition of guys like Quincy Owens. The 6-foot-7, 225-pound class of 2007 forward from Milwaukee, Wis., is coming to the school as a committed man. He verbally pledged his services to a Big East school on Wednesday night.
Owens called Louis Orr and told the head coach that he was ready to be a Seton Hall Pirate. And Owens couldn't be any happier.

"It's a good opportunity for me there. It's a once in a lifetime thing and a dream come true," Owens said. "The Big East - that's where I always wanted to play so when they offered, I took it."
A conversation with a member of the team helped push Owens over the top.
"I talked to (Seton Hall senior) Kelly Whitney and after I talked to him, I pretty much had my decision already made. He said they treat their players like family there," Owens said. "They are always together, playing ball or going out to the community and helping kids read at the schools in the community. That's right up my alley. I did that here in Milwaukee. I want to be at a place where I can help those around me."
Before Owens gets to Seton Hall, he'll play two years at Harmony Prep alongside Indiana commitment Deonta Vaughn, Tyrone Appleton and Alex Tyus. The school has a loaded schedule with games against Oak Hill Academy as well as stops at several major tournaments across the country.
Owens said he's looking forward to playing all over the court when he gets there so he can fine tune his overall game before bolting for the Big East.
"I want to be able to do it all. I can hit that 15 footer or post up or set screens and rebound," Owens said. "Where I come from, I just post up and post up. But I think guards like big guys that can do a little bit of everything."
Owens also had interest from UVLA, Purdue, Cincinatti, Valparaiso, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Tennessee.
