2006 Torrance attracting SEC interest

Mikhail Torrance is a three-star 2006 point guard prospect in Mobile, Ala., at Mary G. Montgomery High School who is attracting some significant high-major attention with his strong play this season. Torrance, 6-foot-3, 186-pounds, should have a lot of opportunities once more schools watch him over the summer.
"So far Alabama, Troy State, Colorado State and South Alabama have been in to see Mikhail play," said Mary G. Montgomery head coach John Davis. "He is also getting interest from Ole Miss, Florida and LSU."

Averaging 18 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds for his 14-6 team, Torrance has the full array of offensive skills.
"He handles the ball well and sees the floor well," said Davis. "He has a good midrange shot with either his left or right hand. He is ambidextrous. I've never seen anything like it.
"His perimeter shot has gotten a lot better. He is shooting over 50 percent from three over the last half of this season."
Torrance, who is slated to attend the adidas Superstar Camp this summer, has picked up his dedication to the game with the realization of how good he could be.
"In the last year I've seen his whole attitude towards basketball change," said Davis. "We're working hard on his defense. He's playing good defense, but I think he could get stronger at it.
"Mikhail has good character and a good work ethic."
