2006 Tiller: one to watch

The Smyrna Stars have a 2006 point guard prospect that is expected to make a name for himself in this coming year according to Coach Gary Graham of the Stars. John Tiller, 6-foot-3, 190-pounds from Wheeler High School in Marietta, Ga., is hearing from high-majors in the deep south, and that list of schools should only grow.
“John is hearing from Georgia Tech, Georgia, Clemson, Auburn, Florida State and Furman,” said Coach Graham. “I expect him to blow up like Lewis Clinch did this year. John is the type of kid who can get a triple-double any given night. He will be big time.”

Tiller has the size and athleticism to get the ball wherever he wants it and to control the ball defensively as well. He does still have some work to do on his outside shot.
“He can go to the hole as well as any kid I’ve seen,” said Graham. “He’s a strong kid, especially for a point. Defensively, he will put you in lock-down. He is awesome in the press.
“He’s a pretty good spot-up shooter, but he needs to get better shooting it off the dribble.”
With a 3.9 GPA in primarily college prep courses, Tiller has the tools both on and off the court.
“John is an awesome kid with an unreal work ethic,” said Graham. “He is one to keep an eye on.”
