2006 Stepheson Names Seven

Although it is early in the recruiting process for top 2006 prospect Alex Stepheson, he already has a good idea of what he is looking for in a college program. The 6-foot-9, 210-pound power forward from Harvard-Westlake High School in Studio City, California is also listing some of the top programs in the country.
"At this time I’m wide open,” said Stepheson. “The recruiting process is early for me. Some of the schools that I’ll probably look into are North Carolina, Arizona, Syracuse, UCLA, California, Stanford, and Duke. This list can, and more than likely, will change as time goes on."

Stepheson, who averaged 13 points and 11 rebounds per game this past high school season, is looking for the typical elements of early playing time and strong relationships in his future college. He is also seeking a balance between a fast paced style of play and a disciplined style of play.
"I’m looking for a school that I suits my game, and that is getting up and down the floor but not forcing it when its not there,” he said. “I want to go to a place where I can play early, and a place where I get along well with the coaches and players."
Like most power forward prospects, the athletic Stepheson is working on expanding his game with small forward skills.
"I’m working on some small forward skills,” he said. “I’m working on my face up game. I need to get better at putting the ball on the floor from the wing. I’m also working on my first step."
”I think my greatest strength is my athleticism. I can usually jump higher and faster than my man and can beat him down the floor. I also work hard in the post and try and do a good job on the boards."
