2006 Prospect Has Big 12 Offer

Although only a sophomore, Dale Van Wright out of Bellaire High School in Houston, Texas already has an offer from a Big 12 school. The 6-foot-6, 200-pound small forward is also receiving interest from three other Big 12 schools.
“He is hearing from Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A & M, and Baylor, who has offered him and wants him right now,” said Wright’s AAU coach Rick Nelson of the Houston Elite.

One of Wright’s greatest assets is his ability to play multiple positions.
“He plays like a young Carmelo Anthony,” said Coach Nelson. “He plays the one through the four on his high school team and can guard all of those positions. He’s probably the most important player on a very good high school team. He can put the ball on the floor, he can shoot the three, and he can play with his back to the basket. He has all the potential to be a player. He has all the tools. Just like any young kid, he needs work.”
Wright averages nearly a triple double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists per game.
