2006 Mississippi Big Man Drawing Attention

2006 prospect Andre Stephens is garnering some big time attention playing in the small town of Heidleberg, Mississippi. Several high major programs have found their way to Heidleberg High School to watch the 6-foot-8, 220-pound center.
According to Stephens’ head coach Ted Williams, Mississippi State, LSU, Texas, and Alabama have all come to Heidleberg to watch Stephens. Kentucky and Arkansas are two other schools that have contacted Williams about his young big man.

Coach Williams provided RivalsHoops.com a good description of Stephens’ game.
“He is every bit of 6'8, maybe even 6'9,” said Coach Williams. “He probably is going to grow to be 6'10 or 6'11. Right now his defense is ahead of his offense. He is a tremendous shot blocker. He stays on his feet extremely well. He’s improving on the offensive end everyday. He’s good around the basket, and has a nice drop step move and a good jump hook.”
Stephens is averaging 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 blocks per game for his 16-7 team. Coach Williams is confident that those numbers will only get bigger the next two years.
“Andre is a hard worker, and I’m expecting big things from him,” said Coach Williams.
