2006 Hutchin Hearing from High Majors

2006 point guard prospect Trent Hutchin certainly has his coach Todd Foster of Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge, La., singing his praises. Hutchin, 5-foot-11, 166-pounds is beginning to hear from some high majors.
“Trent is hearing from Purdue, Florida State, Tulane, and all the smaller schools around this area,” said Coach Foster.

When describing his game, Coach Foster began with Hutchin’s shooting ability, which he also displayed in front of Rivals.com at the Nike Hoop Jamboree.
“Trent is the best pure shooter I have ever coached,” said Coach Foster. “He has unlimited range. He made over 150 threes in just 33 games last year.”
Hutchin’s game may feed off his shooting ability, but shooting is not the only skill in which he excels.
“He can get his shot off the dribble,” said Coach Foster. “If you run at him, he can get by you with the dribble. He is the total offensive package.
“Trent is an unbelievable athlete, who can windmill dunk. He reminds me of a smaller Ben Gordon.”
Hutchin is a true gym rat, and Coach Foster pointed out a couple areas of his game that need improving.
“Trent is in the gym and weight room everyday. He takes a minimum of 500 jumpers a day and bench presses over 200 pounds.
“He is a good defender in that he is quick, athletic, and gets his hands on a bot of balls. He could become a better defender. He also needs to get stronger to handle the contact when he gets in the lane.”
Hutchin averaged 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game as a sophomore last season. He also put up 26 and 27 points against a loaded University Lab squad that sent two of its seniors to LSU.
