2006 Dews Names Seven

The No. 69 ranked player in the class of 2006 James Dews had an outstanding Nike All-American Camp finishing as the No. 4 ranked shooting guard prospect in the camp. Dews, 6-foot-2, 182-pounds, out of Lakota East High School in Westchester, Ohio, has a preliminary list of seven schools.
"I’m considering Dayton, Xavier, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, and Wake Forest,” said Dews. “It’s still early in the recruiting process for me, so I don’t have a leader. I will take some unofficial visits this year. Dayton and Xavier have already offered.”

Strong relationships and early playing time highlight what Dews is looking for in a school.
"I will be looking for a school that I have a good relationship with both the players and the coaches,” he said. I’ll be following which schools are recruiting players at my position. I want to go somewhere Ill have a chance to play early."
Dews, who is a solid all around perimeter player and a very good scorer/shooter, has a plan for developing his game over the next two years.
"Ill be working hard to get better on defense over the next two years,” he said. “I also need to get stronger and that will help my defense. I’m also going to focus a little more on putting the ball on the floor and going to the basket.
“I think my greatest strength is my ability to shoot the ball, but I want to expand on that this year.”
Although Dews will be working very hard to improve individually as a prospect, his primary focus is on winning a conference championship this season.
"Im ready for basketball to start,” he said. “I want to win the conference title this year. We have never done that, so that is definitely my number one goal for the season."
Dews averaged 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game during his sophomore season.
