2006 Center Names Top Four

After a convincing win over Myrtle Beach (SC) High School, 2006 prospect Mitchell Carter of Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin named his top four schools.
The 6-foot-11, 240-pound center listed Marquette, Notre Dame, North Carolina, and Duke as his four favorites.

“All four schools have good academics and good coaching staffs,” said Carter. “If I go to any of those schools, I know I will get better.”
Carter plays on one of the better high school teams in the country, so he is not counted on to score points for his team to be successful.
“I have to know my role,” said Carter. “Right now I need to rebound and contest shots. I need to play strong on the defensive end. Next year will be more of an offensive year.”
Although he does not get the ball a lot on offense, the big man has a soft touch on his jump shot and jump hook.
“My strengths are my soft touch and the way I contest shots,” Carter conceded.
A bright Carter then astutely identified the areas where his game needs improvement.
“I want to improve my jumping, agility, running, strength, and endurance,” he said.
Carter is by no means a poor athlete, but he is a young man still adjusting to his body. His skill level is strong, yet his athleticism is behind his skill level.
In fact, Carter has the size, skill, and potential for athletic development that there is already talk about the NBA.
“If I had a chance, I would go,” Carter said about the prospect of playing in the league.
