2006 Bouldin drawing coaches to Denver

After leading Thunder Ridge High School in Denver, Colo., to a runner up finish in the state last season, Matt Bouldin, a 6-foot-5, 199-pound point guard, is ready to lead his team on a run to a state championship. Thunder Ridge opens their season tonight, and plenty of high-major coaches will be in the stands during their season.
“Quite a few schools have been out,” said Thunder Ridge head coach Joe Ortiz. “California was out on Monday. Notre Dame, Colorado and Colorado State are all coming today. I believe Vanderbilt is coming out this week. New Mexico is coming Monday, and Uconn wants to come out.”

Bouldin, the No. 53 ranked player in the class of 2006, has exceptional ball handling and passing skills along with tremendous size for the point guard position. He changes pace and directions while seeing the court as well as any player in the country.
“Matt has had some practices where he has been unbelievably dominant,” said Ortiz. “Throwing over the head passes, just passes that only he can see. And not clowning or being cool, but it’s just like the game is in slow motion for him.
“Then there are times where he needs to get tougher and compete more, so we’re trying to drive that into him as well.”
