2006 Big Man Decides

J.P. Gavinski, the 6-foot-10, 226-pound power forward/center from Wisconsin Dells (Wis) High School has decided to put an end to his recruitment. The 2006 big man had plenty of time to think about this process before coming to a decision, but Gavinski was ready to put his recruitment behind him.
“J.P. chose Wisconsin over Marquette, Iowa, Washington State and a host of other schools who were in the mix,” Fox Valley Skillz AAU Head Coach Ritchie Davis said. “J.P. knew he wanted to be a Badger and he also knew that he wanted to get his recruitment over with.”

Coach Davis indicated that Gavinski is still working to become a complete player, but he is definitely making improvements at somewhat of a fast pace. Gavinski still has two years of high school to completely develop, so he has plenty of time to focus on all areas of his game.
“J.P. is a pretty good shooter out to the arc,” Coach Davis said. “He has a phenomenal jump hook that can be used with either hand down in the paint area. He can block shots and rebound pretty well, but J.P. will only get better in those areas as he continues to get stronger.
“He also runs the floor pretty well, but I believe he can get a lot better,” he added. “Over the last 10 months, J.P. has really developed a nice competitive side.”
