2006 Alabama Prospect Tough Inside

6-foot-5, 212-pound Demetrius Jemison is a load down low, and the power forward out of Huffman High School in Birmingham, Alabama is only a sophomore. Jemison is already hearing from several high major schools.
"So far I'm receiving early interest from Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee, UAB, and Stanford,” said Jemison. “It's early in the recruiting process, so I'm still wide open.”

Jemison, who averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game for his 22-8 team, had these thoughts about the type of college where he would like to play.
"I'd like to go to a good school that has an experienced coach that stresses defense and will be able to help me develop as a player,” he said. “I'd like to go to a place that has a nice campus and somewhere I'll have the opportunity to play early."
The development of his perimeter game, both defensively and offensively, is very important to Jemison. He would like to expand his game further from the basket and become more of a complete player.
" I think my greatest strength is that I'm dominating in the post and can step out and shoot the 15 foot jumper. I like to rebound and try to get everything that comes off the glass. I consider myself a good athlete and someone that works hard the entire game."
"The main thing I need to work on is my perimeter defense. I want to be able to defend the small forward position better. I'm also working on my ball handling and trying to be more consistent with my jumper. I want to continue to develop my entire game so I can be a complete player."
Jemison’s AAU coach Norm Williams of the Birmingham Raptors noted Jemison’s prowess around the basket.
"Demetrius is a force down low,” said Coach Williams. “Once he gets it in the lane he's almost impossible to stop. He's extremely strong and can control the middle. He's a hard worker and will be a big time college player."
