2005 Prospect Watch: Danny Green

Danny Green, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound shooting guard from St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset, N.Y., is one of the most versatile guards in the class of 2005. He feels like he does a just a little bit of everything. His ability to do the little things help separate himself from the rest of the field. We caught up with the Rivals.com No. 132 player in the nation and got the latest on his recruitment.
“Everything is going good right now,” Green said. “I think I played alright (in April). I started off a little slow because it’s hard to be aggressive on our (New York Panthers) team because we have a lot of good players. I could have done better but I think I played well in general.”

Green played well at several events, including the Capitol Invitational and the Kingwood Classic, displaying a knack for doing what no one else wants to do.
“I think I do a lot of different things,” Green said. “I can bring the ball up the court. I’m a decent shooter. I’m a pretty crafty dribbler. I do the dirty work. Sometimes people don’t like to do the dirty work, I do. I can score if you need me to score.”
His versatility is one of the reasons why he is one of the top players in the country. He said he’s trying to improve his overall national stock this summer.
“I’m trying to do what I can to be in the top 10, top 20,” Green said. “I feel like I’m one of the top 50 players in the country. I just have to keep playing and keep working hard. I have to be more aggressive and attacking the basket.”
St. John's, Rhode Island, Villanova, UConn, Vanderbilt, NC State and Colgate have all been in the recruiting picture, making stops to his school. Green said all but UConn have offered him a scholarship. He also said Vanderbilt and NC State have been the most active schools to this point.
Green will make an unofficial visit to NC State at the end of the month when he makes a trip to the Raleigh-Durham area for the Tournament of Champions.
