2003 Target: Ryan Pettinella

Ryan Pettinella, a 6-8, 205 pound power/combination forward from McQuaid Jesuit H.S. in Rochester, N.Y., has attracted a number of suitors this spring after a fine junior campaign at the private upstate New York school.
A bouncy big man who likes to work both inside and out, Pettinella's frame has yet to fill out and he has a good set of skills. He'll need to get stronger so that he can finish more consistently in traffic underneath, but he's a prospect whose best basketball is ahead of him.

Pettinella told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that his early list includes UMass, Rhode Island, Northwestern, Stanford, William & Mary, Holy Cross, Canisius, Fairfield, Marist, Rider, Siena and Yale.
As a junior at McQuaid Jesuit, Pettinella averaged 16.5 points, nine rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
This past weekend at the Hoop Group/Converse Spring Jam Fest in Providence, R.I., Pettinella helped the Donyell Marshall Foundation [Mickey Walker/USDBL] squad reach the quarterfinals of the 11th grade division.
An excellent student, Pettinella said he carries a 91 average in the classroom, but won't take the SAT for the first time until May 4.
While in the Ocean State this past weekend, Pettinella swung over to the University of Rhode Island for an unofficial visit (Apr. 6). Last summer, he toured William & Mary on an unofficial basis as well.
Pettinella said he expects to attend the Nike All-American Camp in July, and will compete with the Donyell Marshall Foundation at the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas later that month.
Pettinella said he is open in his recruiting, and we will keep you posted on any changes in his recruitment in the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned!
