2003 Target: Ricky Lucas

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Ricky Lucas, a 6-5, 190-pound swingman from Montrose Christian in Maryland, is one of the top 50 players in the country. Lucas put on a show this past weekend at the Charlie Weber tournament. Lucas dropped in 37 points last night to help Fairfax eliminate the mighty Long Island Panthers, 94-90, in the opening round of pool play.
Lucas hit many perimeter shots and also took it to the basket effectively. Lucas has the smarts to pull up and not force the issue too when he is on the break. He is very fluid and smooth when he takes his jumper. There were several occasions that Lucas also had to guard the Panthers' Mike Jones. Lucas did an excellent job of defending the high-riser Jones.

"I want to really work on my strength this spring and summer," Lucas said. "I want to add about 10-15 more pounds. This will add more power to my game."
Lucas told us he is wide open in his recruiting process. "I will listen to most schools," Lucas said. "I don't have a leader right now. I am just going to play this summer and then see who is interested in me."
Lucas told us that Connecticut, Rutgers, Tennessee, and North Carolina State have been showing the most interest. "They are recruiting me either at two or three," said Lucas about the most serious schools. "I think I can play either position on the college level."
