2003 Target: Josh Higgins
Josh Higgins, a 6-11, 290-pound center from Butler High School in Vandala, Ohio, is an intriguing prospect who has received considerable attention from Big Ten and Big East schools.
Some of the schools that have contacted the Higgins household include Ohio State, Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers, UConn, Stanford and Tennessee.
Higgins averaged 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists per game during his junior season. He connected on 74% of his shots from the line and 60% of his field goals.
We caught up with his father for an interview. The elder Higgins said that college scouts have walked away from Josh's games impressed with his soft touch around the basket.
"Everyone always says what a soft touch he has," said Mr. Higgins. "He has good court vision and he passes well from the post."
Higgins will be playing with All Ohio Red this summer and making stops at the Nike camp, as well as other hot spots such as the Peach Tree Jam and the Cincinnati Select Invitational.
