2003 Target: Daon Merritt

Daon Merritt, a 5-9, 175-pound waterbug of a point guard from St. Raymond's High School in the Bronx, is a junior who has attracted the interest of some major college programs as the spring of his junior year approaches.
Merritt, who averaged 16 points and 9 assists for coach Gary DeCesare this past season, is being courted by Louisville, Georgetown, UConn, and Pittsburgh. All four schools have offered. Merritt told Rivals Hoops that there is a possibility that he

will take some unofficial visits this spring.
Merritt, a native of Jamaica, Queens, is a stocky lead guard who is quick to the hole. He excels in the transition game. Daon is adept at breaking down defenders and getting into the paint for close-range
pull-ups.
Merritt told us that he is doing well academically and will take the SAT for the first time on May 4th. In the upcoming weeks, he will be participating in the
Charlie Weber Tournament at Villanova and the
Connecticut Select Tournament in New Haven,
Connecticut.
Daon played an integral role in the New York Ravens Championship run at the Providence Slam Fest this past weekend, and will suit up for the Ravens the rest of the spring and summer. Merritt will also participate in the ABCD camp this summer.
