2003 Target: Charlie Villanueva

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Charlie Villanueva, an agile 6-9 forward from Blair Academy in New Jersey, told us that his list has been shaved.
"Florida is not involved anymore," Villanueva said. "They had some hesitation about my game. So they are out."

Villanueva, who put up 31 points in a night game last night against Fairfax, told us his list is closed right now. "The only change was Florida," Villanueva said. "They are the only school I am not considering. The other schools on my list I am still interested in. But I am not interested in adding any more schools. I am very happy with the schools on my list."
Villaneuva, one of the top 10 players available in the 2003 class, has great range on his jumper and can finish in the break with authority. He did so last night in a very competitive game against Fairfax at the Charlie Weber tournament.
Seton Hall, Illinois, Seton Hall, Villanova, Tennessee, Syracuse, Hofstra, St. John's, Maryland, and Kentucky are the schools Villanueva is seriously considering. "I don't have a leader right now," said Villanueva when asked to name a school that stands above the others. "They are all very even right now."
However, Villanueva pointed out that Villanova recruit Jason Fraser has been working him hard to join him in Philadelphia. "J just called me," Villanueva said with a laugh. "He has been working me hard. But I like the other schools too. I am going to take a look at them and give everyone a fair look."
