2003 Target: Bashir Mason

Bashir Mason, a 6-0, 175 pound point guard from St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, N.J., will spend his spring and summer AAU events with the powerful T5T Playaz Club of New Jersey. Mason will be a nice addition to the Playaz team this spring and summer like he was for St. Benedict's Prep this past season. In fact, many believe Mason was a measuring stick for the Gray Bees' season.

Mason is a very effective passer in transition, he penetrates with his dribble, can draw defenders to him like bees to honey, and then has the vision to drop off passes to teammates for close in shots.

Mason reads defenses well and finds cutters to the hoop in half court sets, although he has a bad tendency to attempt difficult contested shots on drives to the basket. This is an area where Mason plans on improving this spring and summer.

Delaware, Ohio University and several other mid-majors were the early schools taking an early peek. But schools like Ohio State, Rutgers, Villanova, Virginia, and Syracuse are also of interest to Mason. If Mason has a great summer, you can expect this list to be filled with big name programs.
