2003 Prospect: Martin Iti

SMITHFIELD, RHODE ISLAND -- Martin Iti, a 6-10, 230-pound center/power forward from The Winchendon School in Massachusetts, played this past weekend at the 2002 National Prep School Invitational on the campus of Bryant College.
Iti comes off the bench for one of the best teachers in the business -- head coach Mike Byrnes. Iti appears willing to digest Byrnes' knowledge. It's a good thing too because Iti has great upside but is just starting to understand what he can do with his size.

"He's raw," Byrnes said. "He is learning a lot though and picking up things quickly."
Iti, who has been looked at by some NBA scouts, could be a player to watch next year as he becomes more confident in posting up and using his frame offensively.
Iti can bench about 255 pounds so he is strong. So he has strength. It's utilizing that strength in a proper way to help him become more productive. But you can tell by watching him, he has his best years ahead of him.
The big name schools are already showing interest -- Kentucky, Connecticut, Cincinnati, Louisville, Memphis, Syracuse, and North Carolina.
