Kent State wrapped up the 2007 season on Friday by announcing its year-end award winners. Sophomore running back Eugene Jarvis took home the Offensive Player of the Year Award while Derek Burrell claimed the Defense Player of the Year honors.[details]
2006 (Junior): Started and played in all 12 regular season games for Kent State; mostly at free safety with one start at strong safety...tied Stevon Moss for second on the team in total tackles with 72...made 42 solo tackles which was second on the team behind Andre Kirkland...led the team with 10 tackles on Nov. 11 at nationally-ranked Virginia Tech...posted eight solo stops on Sept. 23 at Bowling Green...had eight solo tackles, including his only sack, in Kent State’s 17-14 overtime loss at Army Sept. 9.
2005 (Sophomore): Played in all 11 games and made five starts...finished third on the team in tackles, totaling 75 stops...had 33 solo tackles and two tackles for a loss...had a career-best 13 tackles (1.5 TFL) against Buffalo Nov. 12...posted 11 tackles at Navy Oct. 15, including seven solo tackles...also recorded double-digit tackles against Miami Sept. 17 with 10 stops...made nine tackles at Eastern Michigan Oct. 1.
2004 (Freshman): Saw action in 10 games, including a start at Miami Oct. 9...totaled 24 tackles on the season, including 14 solo stops...also broke up two passes, forced a fumble and recovered one as well...had three tackles-for-loss...made a season-high eight tackles at Central Michigan Oct. 2...had four other games with at least three tackles.
