Jordan falls to second round of NBA Draft

DeAndre Jordan only played one season at Texas A&M before heading to the NBA Draft, and Thursday night things took a turn for the worse. Jordan was originally thought of as a top 10 lottery pick when he first declared for the draft but things took south since then.

Now, Jordan faces an uncertain future after being selected in the second round (35 overall pick) by the Los Angeles Clippers. Second round picks are not guaranteed a contract.

Jordan is a 7-footer that has unbelievable athleticism with his size. He can run the floor well, has great hands and is a monster on the glass. But his first season at A&M was really the first season of full-time coaching that Jordan received in his basketball career.

He started 21 of 35 games as a freshman in College Station, and averaged 7.9 points, six rebounds (led team) and 1.26 blocks (led team) per game. Jordan's freshman season, though, was pumped up with probably unrealistic expectations before he ever hit campus.

As the No. 8 player in the Rivals 2007 Top 150, Jordan was the highest-rated prospect ever to attend A&M. Although the improvement of the high school Jordan to the one at the end of A&M's 2007-08 season was remarkable, Jordan never really lived up to the overhyped expectations.

As a first round pick, Jordan would have had the chance to develop under NBA supervision for at least three years which are guaranteed to first round picks. Now, it's anyone's guess as to where Jordan will end up. With the summer league ahead, Jordan will have to prove to the Clippers that he is worthy of a roster spot.

Los Angeles picked another college freshman in the first round by selected Indiana guard Eric Gordon with the seventh overall pick.
