Mike Anderson has recruited the Memphis area heavily for years now. After landing Laurence Bowers from the city a season ago, Missouri's head coach hopes to strike again with Reginald Buckner. The four-star forward attended the Tigers' elite camp last week with Jerry Anthony, one of his high school coaches.
"He loved the trip up in Missouri," Anthony reported. "He said that the facilities were some of the best he's ever seen. The place they play at, Mizzou Arena, it's just as big as the FedEx Forum. He enjoyed the facilities and coach Anderson spent some time with him and he enjoyed spending time with coach A."
Anthony said he does not have a long-standing relationship with Anderson, but has watched the coach's teams play closely for years.
"We've followed his programs throughout the years, even when he was back at Arkansas," Anthony said. "That style of play would fit Reggie's style of play exceptionally."
Buckner measured 6-foot-8, but had a seven-foot wingspan while at the Tiger camp.
"One of the biggest things to his game is his defensive pressure," Anthony said. "He guards the perimeter exceptionally, he guards the big guys. He just plays high pressure defense and he's very long and athletic."
While Buckner got out of town last weekend, he will most definitely be making a return trip to Columbia.
"I think after the camp, I think they are right up there," Anthony said. "I know Missouri will get (an official visit), Ole Miss will get one, UTEP is already scheduled for the first week in September. Baylor wants him to come down too. They've been recruiting him real heavily since they saw him down in Dallas."
Buckner is planning to take his official visits in September and make a decision some time after that. PowerMizzou.com will keep Tiger fans posted on Buckner's recruitment.
