On the Bounce with Coach Meyer, NHJ vol. 3

Here is a look at the No. 21 through 30 prospects at the Nike Hoop Jamboree according to Rivals.com National Scout Jerry Meyer:

2007 prospect Herb Pope (6-foot-8, 223-pound power forward from Montrose Christian in Ashburn, Va.): Pope played stronger as the camp progressed. He can put it on the floor a little, even driving left and hitting a runner in the lane at one point. He can hit the midrange jumper and finish inside although he does get out muscled at times.. There is a very high ceiling for Pope as he gets stronger.

2006 prospect Lawrence Westbrook (6-foot, 193-pound shooting guard from Chandler (Ariz.) High School): A strong athlete with functional height- 6-foot-4 wing span- Westbrooks can shoot the three and work his way into the paint to score. A prolific scorer, the question would be his ability to distribute the ball.

2006 prospect Landon Milbourne (6-foot-6, 195-pound small forward from St. Francis High School in Roswell Ga.) Milbourne is an athletic lefty who has a chance to be a high major small forward prospect. Shoots the ball well from midrange and is good around the basket. He does need to improve his ball handling skills.

2007 prospect Melquan Bolding (6-foot-5, 188-pound shooting guard from Beacon (N.Y.) High School): Long and athletic, Bolding is very good off the bounce, either scoring the ball or passing it. Not a pure shooter, he can make threes, but that part of his game does need work. He looked to be a strong competitor as well.

2007 prospect Michael Singletary (6-foot-5, 208-pound small forward from Kingwood High School in Humble, Texas): Blessed with a great basketball body, Singletary is very smooth with the ball. He was impressive attacking the basket in the open court. He also displayed the ability to hit the pull up jumper and to hit the catch and shoot at midrange. Three point range should develop.

2006 prospect Marcus Johnson (6-foot-3, 180-pound shooting guard from St. Vincent St. Mary's High School in Cleveland, Ohio): Johnson is a well built, graceful athlete with a solid all around game. He runs the floor well and attacked the basket more than taking the outside shot.

2007 prospect Michael Sanchez (6-foot-8, 186-pound small forward from Springdale (Ark.) High School): Sanchez is an intriguing prospect with the chance to be a high major small forward prospect. He moves well on the offensive end and has a decent handle. He can hit the midrange shot and finish floaters, but his shot needs work and is not consistent from deep. Still growing, he needs to either get strong to guard a power forward or quicker to guard a small forward. He is a smooth athlete with skills such as finishing with his left hand around the basket.

2006 prospect Kyle Kirk (6-foot-5, 209-pound shooting guard from Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Mo.): Strong and athletic, Kirk loves to attack the rim and dunk. He gets great lift on his jump shot and can shoot the three, but he prefers to put the ball on the floor. He is also pretty good at penetrating and kicking the ball out. Could be a rugged high major shooting guard/small forward.

2007 prospect Jai Lucas (5-foot-10, 138-pound point guard from Bellaire (Texas) High School): Lucas can score the ball pretty much any way needed and can run a team. His size and strength are his question marks. He has a tremendous basketball IQ, sees the court, and has a flawless handle. Based on family history, size and strength will eventually not be an issue, and he will be a high major point guard prospect.

2006 prospect Josh Chichester (6-foot-7, 201-pound power forward from Lakota West High School in Hamilton, Ohio): Chichester is a bouncy athlete with a 7-foot-1 wing span. During his game Wednesday, he got to the rim several time and scored with acrobatic finishes. He is explosive with the ball in the open court, and he looked good shooting the midrange jumper. He does need to put on some pounds to be more effective in a half court grind it out type game. Sat out most of the camp with an ankle injury.
