We continue the hot month of July with this look at the players who make up the FlaVarsity.com Pre-season 160.
6-foot-1 | 199 | Miami Central
Buzz: Thomas is the highest rated safety in Florida - not in the top five. But the competition at this position is fierce. He recently committed to the University of Oklahoma and is part of a Central defense that won game after game last year with close finishes and defensive stops.
5-foot-9 | 165 | Christopher Columbus
Buzz: Wilson committed to Florida State and looks to be an impact wide receiver, but can play several positions on both sides of the ball. Wilson has the speed to make an impact at the next level, but his size may be a factor.
6-foot-1 | 190 | Cooper City
Buzz: Johnson has good speed (4.5) and size, and his leaping ability is impressive. He also goes to the ball very well. He may be one of the more versatile athletes in south Florida. He has committed to Auburn University.
6-foot-1 | 168 | Chaminade Madonna
Buzz: Baker is a hard-hitting cornerback with great coverage skills. He's an impact player that covers the field very well. He has committed to Florida State.
6-foot-4 | 215 | Crestview
Buzz: Lawson has the size to play at the next level and covers the outside very well from his linebacker position. He made 102 tackles last year and has committed to the University of Florida.
6-foot-2 | 220 | West Orange
Buzz: Vereen is a fast outside linebacker that covers a lot of ground. He had 59 tackles including 14 for loss and 16 sacks last year. He has committed to the University of Tennessee.
6-foot-1 | 231 | East River
Buzz: Rankin plays like a coach's son. He's smart and makes the right reads. He will enroll in college in January. He's got the tools to be an impact player in the middle at the University of Georgia, where he has committed.
6-foot-0 | 210 | Christopher Columbus
Buzz:Woodley is a key figure in the Explorer offense. He had 727 yards last year and 11 touchdowns. He's got options and looks to be one of the 'dominant' backs in Dade County.
Schools in the mix: Memphis, Western Kentucky, Indiana, Marshall, Cincinnati
5-foot-9 | 190 | Christopher Columbus
Buzz: Chestnut will team up with Woodley to take Columbus back to the post-season. He's an all-purpose back that can catch the ball out of the backfield.
Schools in the mix: Kansas State, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Miami
