South Carolina big man makes choice

Up until a few weeks ago, there was no shortage of speculation about where Brice Johnson would land.

However, over the past couple of weeks information about the 6-foot-9 forward from Cordova (S.C.) Edisto totally dried up.

That was until Wednesday morning when the nation's No. 49 player in the class of 2012 announced his college choice via Twitter.

"I will be a UNC Tar Heel," tweeted Johnson early Wednesday morning, confirming what many sources indicated late Tuesday and early Wednesday.

A thin big man with good hands and athleticism, Johnson really took off during the summer.

During July, he threw caution to the wind and played with a new level of activity and physicality near the rim. He hunted tip dunks, rose quickly to swat shots while running the floor and showing the ability to step out and make 12- to 15-foot jumpers.

The four-star prospect joins a class that already includes four-stars Marcus Paige, Joel James and J.P. Tokoto.
