Things didn't look good for Ohio State on Thursday as Tennessee raced to a big lead and Greg Oden sat on the bench. But thanks to Mike Conley Jr. the Buckeyes are still smiling this morning. See who else stepped up to the challenge and who backed down in On Fire & Misfired.[details]
Strengths: Kavaliauskas has decent size for a big man at 6'10, and is mobile for his size. He's a good passer and mid-range shooter, and shows flashes of a post-up game as well. He has an excellent motor, always throwing his body around and fighting for loose balls and rebounds. He also is a decent defender in the post, showing good fundamentals.
Weaknesses: Kavaliauskas isn't a very explosive athlete and doesn't do anything especially well. He lacks long range on his shot, and probably won't be able to do much damage in the post at the next level. Despite being adequate in many areas, he may not have the one stand-out quality most teams look for in role players in the NBA.
Outlook: Kavaliauskas likely won't be drafted, but he should get his chance in summer league because teams like complementary big men with good passing skills. If he can extend his range, Kavaliauskas could become a more potent threat as a pick-and-pop player in the NBA, increasing his chance of catching on somewhere.
