UPDATED: Blue no longer verbally committed
MADISON, Wis.-The source of arguably the hottest topic that surrounded Wisconsin athletics the last seven days provided his side of the story Tuesday afternoon at the Genesis Development Center.
Madison Memorial's Vander Blue called a press conference in regards to the academic meeting that took place Monday, May 11 with Wisconsin coaches Howard Moore and Bo Ryan, his mother, Rita Blue, his AAU coach and various academic advisors from the UW and Memorial High School.
Blue, a four-star point guard, pledged a non-binding verbal agreement to play for Wisconsin in April of 2008.
The recent attention surrounding this situation did not sit well with Blue, who led Memorial to a WIAA state title this past season.
"I felt disrespected and unwanted here in Wisconsin," Blue said in an article that ran this morning on wissports.net. "And I was just hurt inside to see how people really felt about me, and the bad part was this was all false information they were basing this off."
