Baylor Adds Big Man
What appears to be the cherry on top of a very successful 2009 recruiting class for Scott Drew is 7ft Croatian center Dragan Sekelja . The 7ft tall Croatian center signed his letter of intent to play for the Baylor Bears on Monday as he becomes the sixth player in Baylor's 09 class.
Sekelja picked Baylor over interest from schools such as Oregon, Indiana, Northwestern, and Georgia Tech.
"I chose Baylor because of its program, great coaching staff, and because getting in NBA is my final goal," Sekelja said to SicEmSports.com.
The Croatian big man averaged fourteen points per game last season for Cibona Zagreb where he was considered by many as one of the top young frontcourt players in Europe.
I think that i play smart basketball," said Sekelja. "I can shoot and dribble the ball like smaller players .So that is my biggest advantage"
With the ultimate goal of playing in the NBA, Sekelja passed up opportunities to play professionally in Europe because he felt he could be better prepared by playing collegiately in America.
Sekelja has never been to America, but he's excited about the opportunity to play for Baylor, and he already has big goals for when he gets here.
"I have big expectations about everything from life to school to basketball," he said.
