Charlotte in Williams Top Four

2009 South Dade Senior High School point guard prospect Vincent Williams has earned a qualifying test score and as a result potential suitors are starting to come around for him.

Williams is being recruited by Charlotte, NC State, Georgia, St. Louis, UAB, and Oklahoma according to South Dade Head Coach John Herron.

Herron said William's top four teams are Charlotte, Georgia, Oklahoma, and NC State.

Herron said Georgia and new Head Coach Mark Fox "made a good impression" this past weekend. Herron said Georgia called Williams on Saturday and came down to Florida to see him workout on Easter Sunday. Herron said Georgia would probably rank number one for Vincent right now with Charlotte, Oklahoma, and NC State tied for second.

Charlotte has not made an offer yet according to Herron. Herron said that Charlotte has been verifying Williams core classes first.

"We're trying to see who's genuine and serious," said Herron. "Coach Kummer was one of the first to call Vincent."

According to Herron, Oklahoma will be visiting Friday to see Williams workout and NC State will be coming on the 21st or 22nd to do the same. He is not sure when Charlotte is coming but that could change once his core classes are confirmed.

For the season Williams averaged 26 points and six assists per game.

"He can flat out shoot the rock," said Herron. "He can shoot it from 22 to 23 feet back and is quick." Herron said that Williams must get stronger.
