Auburn signee having strong JUCO season

With three seniors set to finish up their eligibility this season, Auburn will be looking for immediate help from its 2009 class.

One of the signees expected to step in and challenge for immediate playing time and perhaps a starting position is Paris (Tex.) Junior College forward Kenny Gabriel.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pound Gabriel is leading Paris in scoring, rebounding, blocks and charges taken in his first season out of Charlotte, N.C.

"As a basketball player, he's gotten so much better in just a year," Paris head coach Ross Hodge said. "He's so talented. He can shoot the three, is very long and athletic and over the course of the year he has gotten better at a lot of the little things.

"He's gotten tougher and learned to play hard on every single possession."
