Basketball commit Allen will be ready

In Steve Smith's illustrious 24 years coaching Oak Hill (Va.) Academy, he had never had a guard who started as a sophomore. Last season, he had two, and one of them committed to West Virginia last Tuesday night.

"We have two (future Mountaineer Bryon Allen) and Cleveland's Pe'Shon Howard. We had two seniors (in 2007-08) that we parted company with, and Bryon and Pe'Shon had to step up. Bryon's been with me 2 1/2 years, and if he starts next year--which he should--he will be the only three-year starting guard we have had."

Which is saying something. This year, Oak Hill is 19-0 and ranked 2nd in the nation by USA Today. Last season, the traveling high-school team finished 34-4 and 3rd in the national newspaper poll.
