Dawkins enjoys visit back to Duke
When Chesapeake (Va.) Atlantic Shores guard Andre Dawkins committed to Duke, he was asked by the staff to be the leader of the 2010 class. Mike Krzyzewski and his staff saw a love for Duke in Dawkins that is almost unmatched. Because of Dawkins' passion for Duke, something that was present even before they began recruiting him, the coaches knew he would have an immediate impact on the program - even now, two years before he ever steps foot on campus as a student.
Dawkins took the coaches' requests to heart and began on his journey to help make the 2010 class the best it could possibly become. With Duke recruiting two of his friends, Tyler Thornton and Joshua Hairston, he began sharing his love for the university with both, and making sure they knew he wanted them to be in Durham, making their way through a college basketball career together.
As anyone that follows Duke in the least knows, both Thornton and Hairston offered their verbal pledges, and the legend began. Dawkins' efforts to help gain those commitments didn't go unnoticed by anyone that has an interest in Duke basketball. In fact, many began labeling Dawkins as one of Duke's best recruiters.
