Stanley will 'Storm' to Morgantown for Jam Fest

MORGANTOWN--When Bob Huggins began showing up at his AAU games, Storm Stanley didn't know a lot about the state of West Virginia or its flagship university. He did, however, know that he wanted to play big-time college basketball for a big-time coach. So without ever visiting Morgantown, the 6-foot-11 Stanley recently accepted an offer to play at WVU.

Interestingly enough, West Virginia's courtship of Stanley didn't involve numerous home visits by the coaching staff or piles of letters stuffed in the family mailbox. Whenever Huggins made appearances at Storm's games, the Stanley family just assumed he was there to watch guard Noah Cottrill, Storm's teammate on the Ohio Basketball Club and a member of the Mountaineers' 2010 recruiting class. Lori Stanley, Storm's mother, had no clue that Huggins was interested in her son until he offered him a scholarship.
