Crump is wide open

When head coach Craig Robinson and assistant coach Doug Stewart took their new jobs at Oregon State, they certainly didn't forget what they knew about on the East Coast. During their tours of the Northeast prep school scene, a young player named Givon Crump caught their eye. At a solid 6-foot-6, 210-pounds, the Brewster Academy standout had size and shooting skill on the wing and the new Beavers staff is keeping a close eye on Crump this summer - as are programs all across the country.

This month, Crump is taking some time off after playing with the Arizona Magic AAU program in April.

"Everything is good," Crump said. "I had an OK spring - it could have been better, but I sprained my MCL and it set me back a bit. But I helped my team win and I got to play in front of coaches, which was good."

Despite the injury, Crump was able to show off his size on the perimeter and the ability to hit the perimeter shot. As a result, college coaches have been calling with interest and he's picked up a few early offers.
