Pair of DC Assault guards on Hoya radar

October 29, 2007 - DC Assault, one of the most recognized and successful travel team programs on the national circuit has long been a source of talented players; one that is widely recognized as such by college coaches from all conferences and levels. Alumni from that program have also not only starred in NCAA action, but have gone on to professional hoops careers.

From a Hoya perspective, current swingman Austin Freeman is an Assault alum, while former All-Big East and current top five National Basketball Association draft pick and Seattle Supersonics rookie, Jeff Green played in several tourneys with the organization. A number of years ago, Tony Bethel, the combo guard who eventually transferred to North Carolina State, also played spring/summer ball for Assault, which has been led by its director, Curtis Malone, since around 1993.
