Self Makes Trip To Cowley County

Having never played a minute of basketball at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kan., Montrell McDonald is beginning to emerge as one of the more heavily recruited players in the junior college ranks. A number of high-major programs have stopped by the gym to get a closer look at the 6-foot-6, 185-pound small forward. Is Kansas one of the schools that recently stopped by Cowley County?

It's been a long and, at times, frustrating road for McDonald. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, the talented small forward signed with Texas A&M Corpus Christi coming out of high school.

However, McDonald ultimately decided to reclassify and left the state of Texas for Bridgton Academy, and eventually signed a Letter-of-Intent with George Washington. For a number of reasons, McDonald ultimately decided to leave the program.

He is receiving interest from Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado, Oregon, Miami (Fla.), Indiana and Wichita State.
