UA lands four-star SF

Swainsboro (Ga.) High School small forward Tony Mitchell has been one of the fastest rising athlete's in the 2008 class. Mitchell, 6-foot-6, 205-pounds, spent the first half of the AAU season traveling with the Hoop Planet and his play earned him several scholarship offers. Despite the attention Mitchell decided Saturday that he knew where he would take his skills on the college level.

"Tony decided today that he wanted to play for Alabama. He loved his visit up there and today called me and said it was Alabama. He just felt more comfortable there than anywhere else. Coach (James) Holland did a great job with him and he loved the rest of the staff especially Coach (Mark) Gottfried," Swainsboro head coach Leroy Jordan said. "To be honest recruiting was beginning to be a hassle for him. It started small but a lot of more schools have taken notice of him after watching on the AAU circuit so it was beginning to be too much. He didn't mind the attention at first but now he just wanted to focus on academics and his senior year.
