CatsIllustrated.com Q&A with Olek Czyz

Poland was good to Kentucky the last four years by loaning native son Lukasz Obrzut to the Wildcats' basketball squad. If new head coach Billy Gillispie gets his way, UK will get another Polish hoopster, one with even more heralded skills, to come to the Bluegrass State.

Olek Czyz, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound power forward, has been hitting the camp circuit hard this summer with his Las Vegas Prospects squad. Playing his high school ball in Reno, Nevada, Czyz has blossomed during this year's camps after spending last year playing in the shadow of two older teammates.

CatsPause.com recently had an opportunity to chat with Czyz about the recruiting process and his recent visit to the UK campus. He discusses that trip and other topics in this Q&A session:

CatsPause.com: All of a sudden, you are blowing up the camp scene this summer. Did all this attention take you by surprise?

Olek Czyz: It is a surprise, because I've never had so much interest from so many high ranked colleges, but I've worked hard for it so I expected someone to notice me.

CP: Give a complete list of schools that are now on your list.

OC: Kentucky, Arizona State, Washington State, Louisville, Nevada, and Colorado State have offered. I am also receiving interest from Duke, North Carolina, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Cal, Oregon, Washington, and UNLV.
