Cyclones sit well with Ian Markolf
Iowa State remains in the market for a post player in its 2008 recruiting class and the Cyclones have zeroed in on San Antonio (Tex.) Churchill standout Ian Markolf as the man to get. Markolf was in Ames over the weekend to participate in ISU's elite camp. Here's an update on the seven-footers spring and summer and his recruiting situation at this time.
The 7-foot, 260-pound Markolf is just knocking the rust off his game after sitting out the spring AAU season to rest and rehab a sore back. The camp at Iowa State was some of his first full speed competition since March and he's still playing his way back into shape.
Markolf's AAU absence in the spring kept his recruiting stock in a holding pattern. Iowa State, Auburn and Baylor are the schools that have active offers in front of Markolf and that he is considering. There are some other possibilities as well.
