Queens star considering Texas

The Texas Longhorn basketball program has tasted recruiting success in the New York City area in recent years. Three former New York City area guards have left their mark on the Texas program in Reggie Freeman (Rice High), Terrence Rencher (St. Raymond High) and Royal Ivey (Cardoza High). The Longhorns are again looking to the New York City area for backcourt help, this time in the 2008 recruiting class.

Queens (Holy Cross High) 6-foot-5 guard Sylven Landesberg has been a scoring machine the last two seasons. During that time, Landesberg's scoring prowess has caught the eye of many a college program.

The stellar junior season ended with schools from around the country calling and visiting Holy Cross. Programs such as Georgia Tech, Florida, Florida State, Texas and Virginia, among others, made the trip to Queens along with area schools Rutgers and St. John's.
