Four-star guard Scott Suggs likes Clemson quite a bit. Nevertheless, the touted 6-foot-6, 180-pound recruit out of Augusta (MO) Washington High digs six other programs just as much.

"Those are still my seven favorites - Clemson, Florida, Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, Kansas and Washington," Suggs told Tuesday afternoon. "No one is on top and they are all even now."

What stands out for the nation's No. 17 shooting guard prospect, per, about each of his favorites?

Clemson - "I like (assistant) coach (Shaka) Smart. He's a funny guy. (Head) coach (Oliver) Purnell came to my school about two or three weeks ago. Coach Smart has been to a couple of my high school games this past season. They started the season with a 17-game win streak. They play in the ACC and are a good team."

Florida - "Coach (Billy) Donovan has been on vacation and I have not talked to him since he's been gone. They run a good program that just won back-to-back National Titles. They always are bringing in good players."

Wisconsin - "I always think of Devin Harris and Alando Tucker when I think of them. They get to the tourney often. Coach (Bo) Ryan came down the week before the Kingwood Classic (leading up to the weekend of April 18-20). Coach Ryan is a highly respected coach and has had some good things to say."

Missouri - "They run and press the whole game. I like an up-tempo pace. I like coach Mike Anderson, too."

Illinois - "They've always been a good team, also. Coach (Bruce) Weber says that I remind him of his past guards - Deron Williams, Dee Brown and Luther Head. He says I can play the 1, the 2 or the 3 for them."

Kansas - "They've been building the last couple of years and made it further in the tournament this year (than the years before). They play an up-tempo game."

Washington - "I always think of Brandon Roy, the NBA Rookie of the Year, when I think of them."

Is the nation's No. 72 prospect in the class of 2008 planning a visit to Clemson and if so, when?

"We have a bunch of high school camps in June, but we have an off week so I'm planning to visit Clemson then," the standout detailed. "I've been to Washington, Missouri and Illinois already so I'll probably visit Wisconsin, Kansas and Florida this summer sometime so I can see all of my favorites."

What does the fall hold for the four-star prospect?

"I want to sign in November (in the early signing period)," Suggs said. "I'm going to take some official visits after I trim down my list, but I'm uncertain as to when I'll do that."

Suggs runs with the St. Louis Eagles on the AAU circuit but recently injured his ankle and is wearing a boot as part of the rehab. He's tentatively hoping for a Memorial Day weekend return to the court.

The athletic wing went for 20-plus points against the toughest teams the Eagles faced and was the offensive spark in the clutch at the Jayhawk Invitational, held in Lawrence (KS) the first weekend of May. They plan to be in Orlando and at the Peach Jam in July.

As a junior, Suggs tallied 20 points on over 50-percent shooting from the field to go with 7.8 rebounds, four assists and 2.2 steals per game for Washington. He boasts a 3.4 GPA.
