Weber talks Watkins

The Illini have added another top 100 guard to their 2007 recruiting class. Quinton Watkins will fill an immediate need for the Illini as a scorer from the wing position.

Illinois Head Coach Bruce Weber feels that he is a player that definitely can help the Illini with their main deficiency last season. He can score.

"Quinton was one of the top unsigned players left out there," Weber told the Orange&Blue News. "He is a scorer, probably known more as a shooter right now, but he has good bounce and can get to the basket and finish as well."

Watkins comes from storied Dominguez High School in Compton (Cal.) where he was named the MVP of his league while leading the storied program to a 22-8 mark last season. Dominguez plays many of the top teams in talent rich California, and that experience as well as the solid coaching he received in high school should enable him to step in and play, on both ends of the floor.
