Demar Derozan is one to watch

One of the hottest 2008 basketball prospects in the star-studded Southland this season is Compton (Calif.) shooting guard Demar Derozan. For fans that have yet to hear his name, you haven't been watching prep basketball in SoCal this year. In fact, numerous on-lookers have stated that Derozan might just be the best prospect to ever emerge from the Moore League.

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Tony Thomas, Compton high has taken that next step. The Tarbabes spent the past two seasons around the .500 mark, but with Derozan leading the league in scoring at 22.1 points, and fellow junior Edgar Garibay leading the league in rebounds and blocks, Coach Thomas has a solid one-two punch. The duo combines for 36.2 points, 18.1 rebounds, 4.8 steals, and 3.2 blocks per game, and has led the Tarbabes to a 25-5 overall record.
