Jones will mix it up

Quite often when a forward in the 6-foot-8 range has an excellent outside
shot, the prospect will prefer to play on the perimeter. But junior Kevin
Jones
from Mount Vernon, New York is not afraid to mix it up inside.

We caught up with the versatile forward this weekend after seeing him play at
the Spalding HoopHall Classic in Springfield, Massachusetts. There his
Mount Vernon team fell to a very talented Norcross High team from Georgia,
72-63. Jones was beset by three first half fouls battling the Norcross
inside duo of Gani Lawal and Al-Farouq Aminu. Lawal is a top 30 ranked
senior headed to Georgia Tech and Aminu is a top 10 ranked junior.

It was too early for the junior to name any favorites or give out a short
list.

Jones indicated that he was unsure if the Hoosiers had offered the early
scholarship. He did list four early high major offers that included Kentucky, Rutgers, UMass and Memphis.
