Vols Setting Sights on Memphis Junior

With the basketball Vols taking the first part of the week off to focus on finals, Tennessee head coach Bruce Pearl was able to hit the road on Tuesday and do a little legwork on the recruiting trail. Pearl and a handful of other high-major coaches were in Memphis on Tuesday to check out 2008 shooting guard Elliot Williams and St. George Academy take on Briarcrest.

Williams (6-foot-4, 170 pounds) was Pearl's main focus on Tuesday night, but he wasn't the only noteworthy prospect on the court. Briarcrest boasts one of the top sophomore prospects in the nation in elite shooting guard Leslie McDonald , and Williams' teammate, Laurence Bowers is also a Division I prospect.

The Vols, and a lot of other programs, began pursuing Williams after he made a name for himself on the summer circuit. He's already holding firm offers from Tennessee, Memphis, Vanderbilt, Indiana and Clemson, with more surely on the way.
